The multi-site chlorophyll fluorometer MONITORING-PAM simultaneously operates up to seven robust and waterproof emitter-detector heads (MONI-HEAD/485). A clip positions the sample at defined distance and angle relative to the measuring head.
Each measuring head generates modulated fluorescence excitation light, continuous actinic light and saturation flashes by a blue power LED. A collimating lens focuses the LED radiation on the sample, and collects fluorescence. Maximum saturation pulse intensity at sample level exceeds 3500 μmol m-2 s-1.
A MONI-HEAD/485 unit measures modulated fluorescence at wavelengths > 650 nm. At the same time, the intensity of external photosynthetically active radiation at sample level is recorded by measuring the light reflected by a diffuse Teflon reflector mounted in-plane with the sample.
The system is available as ONLINE version which requires line power and permanent connection to a computer via the interface MONI-IB4/LAN. In comparison, the MONI-DA version employs an independent, battery-powered data acquisition unit to operate the measuring heads. The measured data can be received at remote sites using GPRS or satellite communication.
